For another interesting work, the small white "eggs" (left of the picture) will send sound waves into the atmosphere. The sound waves will be reflected by atmospheric turbulence. The reflections allow for measurement of wind speed at various heights above the ground. Furthermore the thermodynamic structure of the lower layer of the atmosphere can be analysed.
