Lawrence Pennington: Dakuri

Lawrence Pennington: Dakuri Dakuri, the artist's birthplace, is a Walawaru (Wedge-tailed Eagle) place in the northeast corner of Spinifex Lands. Walawaru and his wife were hunting for chicks and eggs of the Nganamara (Mallee Fowl), leaving their own chicks alone and vulnerable. The Mallee Fowl knew she was being followed and made every effort to lead the eagles away from the nest where a feast of eggs was hidden. Red is used for the tracks and sites of the Mallee Fowl and black for the ancestral Eagle. - 2011 Jul 03 15:18:52
